I’ve had one for about a year. I makes good coffee, warms up quickly and has enough power to keep system warm for coffee and foam. Water reservoir is large enough to make multiple cups. The unit delivers good pressure for foam.

We have had an ongoing problem with plugging. The filter only has one hole to let coffee escape, causing frequent clogging problem when using a blade grinder which delivers uneven grain. The wrong size grain will plug up the works. If you are going to use this machine, you should invest in a good grinder to ensure that machine does not plug due to irregular grind from blade machine. A nice feature is that the machine is delivered w/ 2 filter inserts to hold coffee in the filter: one for single cup, one for double. Also comes with an insert for single dose bags.

An apparent problem is that when the machine plugs, the overpressure and swollen coffee grind puts more pressure on the plastic collar than it can take. Within first year, the black plastic collar on our machine cracked, causing coffee to shoot out of the filter. Brought it to dealer, apparently two other machines brought back with the same problem in the past week. Delivery time for replacement parts will be 3-4 weeks. Local service centre has 8 week backlog. Opened the machine up to see whether I could fix it myself. Looks possible, but opening the machine revealed significant rust in many areas.

Some concern over cast aluminum filter holder given link to neurological disorders.

Milk frothing assembly comes apart and is easy to clean.

Overall a good 1-2 year life machine.

I am thinking of getting replacement parts machined out of stainless (for the filter) and aluminum (for the locking ring). This should get another year or two of life from the unit.

Update: 3 weeks after ordering replacement part, we still have not received it. I got a replacement part manufactured from aluminum and our cafe roma is back on the counter making steam and making coffee without spewing beans.
