I was really sick of my Delonghi BAR32. This machine was the worst experience of my life.I’m planning to buy an automatic machine soon. Waiting for the budget, so i needed a cheap machine for all my hard wake up. The Breville Roma was one of my choice.

So i bought it for 200$ at my local coffee store.Here is my experience with this machine.

The feature:

This machine is from the Australian compagny Breville. It have a 15 bar italian water Pump with Water block system.The water pass trough a small pipe who is constantly heated. It’s provide constant hot water. It’s a different system than the poor one with only a boiler with an element under it.

1-The Box:,

-Nice box with good description.The machine is well packed and nothing can move in the box.All accessories are individually packed.

2-In the box:

The machine is a heavy weight thing who seem to be indestructible. You got 2 pressurized filter, one scoop and tamper, 2 nice stainless cup and one milk cup.You got a tool to clean the filter and the steam wand.No cheap things at all.

3.The machine:

Wow, this espresso machine is well built with solid stainless. The water thank is accessible from the top. You don’t need to pull the machine to refill it with water.The commands are easy to operate with only 2 position for the main button: Brew or Steam.The steam wand is well placed and solid.

4-Performance:

Start up time: I took a chrono of the time it took from the time you turn on the machine to the time you can do your espresso: 2 MINUTES wow quick performance.

The operation:

Child thing. You only have to turn the button in the brew position and it take 30 second to have your espresso done. If you want a cappuccino, you turn it to the steam position and froth the milk.

The quality of the coffee:

My first coffee was horrible. I took Republican dark whole grain and put it in my saeco grinder. The taste was really bad with a strange plastic smell. Hum, after a 1 minute research, i found the problem: The water reservoir. You need to wash it 1 or 2 times with gentle soap and the plastic smell is gone.

My second coffee was incredible. I did a double espresso and the crema was amazing. The machine produce a rich fine colored crema with no big bubble on the top. Thanks to the pressurized filter. Some coffee maniac hate this system but it works perfect and dosen’t alterate the taste of the coffee at all (for me).

My third coffee was a cappuccino (to test the steam wand). The wand produce a rich foam milk who can stand on the top of the coffee for more than 10 minute.

Conlusion:

I have never seen a machine that can produce a coffee like this for 200$ except the Breville Caffe Roma. This machine beat other machines at 500$ and more. Don’t hesitate and buy this machine if you want a good entry-level machine.
