Overall you get what you pay for. You do need to keep up with the cleaning factors as you do with any product. If your considering stainless steel, use a product designed for stainless steel cleaning. Not JUST dish soap/water and sponge for the non stainless surface, burner/base. I use a soft cloth dampened with a stainless cleaner nearby. As I do with all my stainless steel kitchen items. Keep the cloth in a handy place near the unit or with your other household cleaning supplies. Grab it when you need it for the stainless surfaces. Remember to rub gently with the grain (finish). Confess that we did buy this one because it comes in a stainless option. Another good idea is mentioned in the other comment about soaking/cleaning. I’m going to try this option for the internal parts, as it will make cleaning even easier(read it). I have been just rinsing with water after use and this seems to work well for me. Soaking in a bowl set aside as mentioned in a comment is a good idea. I will add a little dish soap and use that process. Mostly daily rinsing is fine. Use soaking method if you find that your parts are building up with coffee stains. Slight problems getting used to programing. Mostly because of not reading instructions first! Noooo not me! I’m sure you never did this. I also found that there is not much room for error when filling the compartment with beans. The filter basket uses every bit of the area during the brew process. One too many beans may cause an overflow. Again, this goes in saying that you will have problems if you do NOT follow instructions first! This should not falter the ratings of this unit. That is why I give this item a high mark. Glad we decided to buy this unit. We got quality that the Cuisinart name is known for and the stainless steel option we wanted. Oh yea, Works great too!!!
