This was a replacement for a Krups espresso machine that I had for about 4 years. That model made probably 500 cycles of espresso before the power button popped off. I was happy with this performance, so I decided to go for another Krups.

This FNP1 was a disaster. I returned it. I followed the instructions to the letter. I tried different granularities of coffee (as suggested by the trouble-shooting guide). I tried different coffees. All that I got was very hot, light brown water. My previous Krups had brewed from the same bag of coffee perfectly, but this new one simply didn’t brew right.

Even if it did, you have to re-fill the basket after each cup. My previous would fill a mini-pot with approximately 4 cups. This new one, you have to reload the basket after one. There is no little glass (or any sort of) pot. Exchanging grounds 4 times for one load of water was a mess. It was a mess AND it never actually brewed coffee.

I just don’t get it. I’d been using a Krups for years, it made great coffee. It was not sensitive to the grind (a little course or a little fine didn’t bother it). It was consistent and great. I read the instructions on this new one over and over…. sorry, this one just didn’t work!

It’s possible that my particular unit was defective, but even if I could get it to make good coffee, I don’t want to go through the hassle of re-loading grounds 4 times for the same amount of espresso I used to get from the old machine with one load.
