We chose this coffee maker for a few reasons, the least of which is the Cuisinart name. One is because Cuisinart is a quality name in food processors so we figured that quality would extend to coffee makers as well. Also, we wanted it in white which I must tell you is a hard thing to find in a thermal carafe pot. I know more and more people are using black and stainless appliances in their kitchens but come on, lots still have white appliances.

We have never had any of the malfunctions that others have mentioned. It functions perfectly well. There are two things we don’t like about this system. The first is that where you read the fill line has a little red ball that rises as you fill it. This ball makes it difficult to see if you are at the correct line which is a pain. The second thing is the flavor of the coffee it produces. It is bitter and acrid. No matter what we have done, be it changing brands of coffee, how weak or strong we made it, whether we used filtered or unfiltered water, it will not make a decent cup of coffee. Making it weaker improved it only enough to make it so you didn’t want to spit it out but not enough to want to drink it.

The most important thing anyone wants from a coffee maker is good tasting coffee and this system fails miserably at it. I have talked to others who have had the same experience with it and they returned theirs. Would we buy it again? Not even if someone paid us to do it! Yuck
