The Senseo coffee machine, which combined a patented brewing system from Philips with high-quality coffee pods from Sara Lee’s Douwe Egberts, one of Europe’s premiere coffee brands, was the world’s first-ever, single-serve, low-pressure filter coffee system offering a frothy coffee layer when it was launched in Europe in 2001. More than 10 years in development and market research, the patented Senseo coffee-brewing system automatically uses the right amount of water and ensures that the water passes through the Senseo coffee pods quickly and evenly, maximizing the flavor from the coffee bean. The brewing process guarantees a perfect cup of fresh coffee within a minute every time. Available in three colors: blue, black, and white.

Awesome single serve coffee maker!
Pros: Quick, easy, very tasty coffee! Easy to clean. Looks cool.
Weaknesses: Coffee pods are expensive; pod holder sensitive to overly large pods.
I’ve had this for about two months, and just love it! Makes great coffee, assuming you buy good coffee pods to begin with. This is an important thing, so don’t take it litely. Stay away from Folgers & Home Cafe brand coffee. The Senseo brand coffee (actually Doewe Egberts) is pretty good, as are some other brands from web-sites. Downside is that the coffee pods are fairly expensive, anywhere from 25-75 cents a pod!!
Okay, enough lecture on buying good coffee. Just do it! Now back to the coffee maker. It is very easy to set up. Fill up the water tank, plop a coffee pod into the pod holder, and press the water heater button (big one in the middle). In less than a minute, the light stops flashing, and its ready to make a cup of coffe. Put your mug underneath, then select either a single or double serving, and press the appropriate button. You’ll have a cup of joe in about 30-seconds! Depending upon the coffe used, you will often get a nice frothy top.
A couple of knocks to this thing. The included water tank is too small, so you end up having to refill often. The space between the coffee spout and the top of your mug is fairly small, so you can’t put tall mugs in the (ie. the travel tumblers for your car). You have to be careful when buying non-Senseo branded coffee pods, because some are too big, and when not placed properly in the pod holder, the darn thing can explode coffee everywhere! Its an ugly sight, so be aware!
Its a nice looking appliance on the kitchen counter, and cleans up easy. I also tried the Home Cafe, and can say that this one wins hands down for quality of coffee made. I’d be giving it a five star review, if not for the negatives mentioned above.
Pros: Easy to clean - just have to throw out the pod after you make the coffee! Occasionally, put the holder in the dishwasher or just rinse in tap water.
Weaknesses: The pods are relatively expensive: I bought them at Costco for about $8.00 (two packages, 36 pods total). So at $0.22 per cup, not as cheap as ground coffee. Cheaper than Starbucks, though!!!
Overall, an excellent coffee maker at a good price. There is now a larger water reservoir a great product for those with a household of more than a couple coffee drinkers. By the way, I bought some flavored pods via Ebay: “Mocca” (Mocha) Gourmet, and Vienna. The former tastes fantastic, with a hint of chocolate.
Wonderful
Pros: Very easy to clean and maintain, quick operation, stylish & attractive, easy operation.
Weaknesses: Senseo brand coffee pods are very expensive.
I love my Senseo, it brews my coffee extremely fast and it’s easy to clean. The water reservoir heats up in about a minute and will stay heated for about an hour then it will shut itself off automatically to save on power if you haven’t used it. The cup only takes about 30 seconds to brew and somehow puts a wonderful creamy froth on top of your coffee using only water and your pod. I’m not sure how it does this but I love it. Occasionally when you run the cleaning cycle the Senseo will get a tad noisy but it’s only for a few seconds and this is a minor thing really.I have found that you can save yourself a ton of money by making your own pods by hand. The process is a bit tedious but it’s a labor of love if you want the freshest coffee, are picky about your flavors and are on a tight budget.Check this link for a how-to on making your own pods, it helped me tremendously. users.adelphia.net/~rs…
The best coffee ever, with the world of convenience
Pros: Quick cup of coffee.
No wasting of the whole coffee packet
Weaknesses: none
With the current 450 visa card offer, this machine is great. you just get that one cup of fresh coffee everytime, and the quality is great. I and my family love this machine. I have bought two of these, one for office and one for work.
Excellent machine
Pros: Good design, hot water, easy use
Weaknesses: noisy
The machine is in a very nice design. It boils water very fast. Due to its small volume, it keeps water hot for a long time. It is also easy to use, and easy to clean. The only weakness I found is when it ‘pumps’ out water, there is kind of noisy. Over all, it is a good machine, I love it.
Pros: The best cup of coffee I have ever had!!! Bar none
Weaknesses: Sometimes the coffee does not give a deep frowth. I don’t like to make two cups, I rather make a single cup twice to get the rich flavor out

Senseo Coffee Maker
Pros: Make good coffee in seconds
Weaknesses: expensive pod, small capacity
This is the best coffee maker I ever had. It is a step up from the typical coffee maker in the market. It uses steam to pass through the coffee and carry all the good tastes with it in seconds and leave the bitter taste behind. I never thought that I can make such good coffee at home with a small machine. Downsides are, the senseo pod is expensive and only few flavors are available not. And it can only make 2 small cups each time, which is not good if you have more people. I am in search of coupon for pod now.
A very nice Coffee Maker
Pros: Make good quality coffee in minutes
Weaknesses: Only 2 cups capacity
It is one of the best single serve coffee maker in the market. In couple minutes you will have your coffee ready to drink. The machine itself is stylish and easy cleaning. Though the 2 cup capacity may not be good for people with a big family, it is ideal for singles.
senseo coffee machine HD7810
Pros: hot, hot foamy coffe with good taste
Weaknesses: price of pods
I love this machine because of the temp & taste of the coffee but the pods are costly. It airlocks too easily but when it works it is wonderful. So far, just letting it sit has released the airlock.
Great coffee maker.
Pros: Easy to use, quick cup, tasty coffee
Weaknesses: Pods are expensive, a little noisy
This machine is stylish, well designed. It can make a cup of tasty coffee in less than 1 minute. The important thing for me is the easy cleaning, unlike normal coffee makers. The taste of the coffee is excellent.
One thing to mention is that the pods really cost a lot. It is better to buy reusable pods so that you can save some money by making your own pods.
I highly recommend this great coffee machine for it is really convenient.
Great Little Coffee Maker
Pros: Make a single cup of coffee quickly
Weaknesses: Requires special coffee “pods”. Approximately 22 cents a cup.
Forget the need to get out the can of coffee, find a filter (get them apart), measure the right amount, and especially cleaning out the old coffee from yesterday morning - just pop in a pod and you have a cup in under a minute. We have a Flavia (flavia.net) single serve coffee machine at work - the cost is about 45 to 50 cents a cup. The Senseo HD7810/65 is by far a better machine and a cup of coffee costs less than half that of the Flavia. Plus you can get many different flavors to suit your mood!
Philips Senseo Coffee Maker
Pros: nice looking, easy to clean.
Weaknesses: rather expensive at regular price. can only use coffee pods, which aren’t cheap.
Looks stylish and brews good coffee. Only takes 30 seconds to brew a 4oz cup of coffee. Also able to brew two cups at a time. The machine is really easy to clean. Downside is that the Senseo coffee pods are not cheap!
Good try but not perfect.
Pros: Good coffee, fast, convenient, stylish, good for serving guests.
Weaknesses: Expensive pods, small serving, kinda loud, not space-saving.
I need a cup of coffee in the morning everyday so when my conventional coffeemaker died, I thought I would try something new on the market. I never really liked the idea of sharing a pot of coffee with everyone else so I warmed to the idea of individual cups, brewed fresh.
With a rebate, the Senseo became the obvious choice. Only after the purchase did I realize that it makes 4oz cups of joe. Weird, unless its espresso. Now I add some water or I add 2 pods. That works fine except the pods are quite expensive. I have to try making my own pods as described by some website. Also got to try using stronger coffee. The medium roast blend, while good, was still to weak at 4oz. Two other people have commented the same thing.
The nice thing is its fast, relatively well designed, convenient, coffee has nice creamy texture and a snap to clean. I’ll try it out for a month and see if its worth the continued investment but I will not be buying their branded pods.
Great Machine
Pros: Quick, Easy Clean Up, Looks Good
Weaknesses: kind of loud, pods can be expensive
This is my first single brew pod machine and overall it’s a great machine. It’s ready to make coffee very quick and can make a good cup of coffee. The biggest benefit of this machine is that it is so easy to use and clean up I especially find this very useful when I am in a hurry in the morning and need a cup of coffee. I will be picking up one of those reusable pods so I can make my own pods. So far I have used the pods included with the machine and Javaone (available at staples. Tip: use your business rewards check to pick them up) pods with good results. Overall I would highly recommend this machine even though the pods can be pricey the easy cleanup and convenience factor makes up for the cost.
Good buy
Pros: Style, taste, usability
Weaknesses: pods cost
The crucial strength - i don’t have to clean the coffee maker and wash the carafe after each use. The taste is great (may be not as great as hot-sand-cezve-turkish-style coffee, but comparable to Starbucks for sure). The pods are little too expensive, so try to find them on sale.
