I purchased the Melitta coffee pot mostly because I burned my other one up leaving it on all day. My beloved proctor-silex had bitten the dust. I cried. I loved that coffee pot. It got me through college. But I have to admit I started getting the idea it was getting old when it took 25 minutes to brew a cup of coffee. So, I went to the local Meijer(Mega Mart with groceries, much like the new Super Wal-Marts, only with department store pricing)to find a new coffee pot that could carry me through grad school. They had NO proctor-silex coffee makers in stock(sold out). I then decided to purchase the Melitta because it had super fast brewing and it was nice looking. It only seems to come in black, at least that was all I could find in stock, so my other bisque appliances will have to adapt. This is by far the GREATEST coffee maker I have ever owned!!!! It brews super fast, I don’t need to use as much coffee and yes, the generic cone filters and store brand coffee do just fine with it. It shuts off after 2 hours automatically–this thing may even get me through my post-graduate years. I HIGHLY recommend the Melitta!! It is great!! And if you want to veg out and drink coffee all day long, no problem, just press the button twice and it resets the timer, so you have an additional two hours. I also noticed that the clock will blink when the Melitta is ready to shut off, that way you know when it will shut off when you go for a refill. You also get a five second delay to pour a cup if you just can’t wait the 2 minutes for a cup of coffee. It probably has a timer that will automatically brew, but I like to push the little button and I don’t always wake up at the same time, depending on how late I was up studying/doing homework.

The only con I can really see is the selection of color. It seems to only come in black.. I’m sure it’s probably available in white but Meijer didn’t seem to offer that selection.

Overall, I am thoroughly pleased and would highly recommend! I feel it is worth the $35 I spent.
