With a set budget limit of about $80 I researched many coffemakers before listing my final top 3. They included a Hamilton Beach, Melitta and a Cuisinart. I have a Melitta espresso/cappuccino maker and it doesn’t brew as hot as I wanted. The Cuisinart had some ‘cleaning’ issues that other reviewers rated low. In the end I wanted;

*tall enough to fill a travel mug on the go

*programmable for early morning brewing

*at least a 2 hour shut off mechanism

*12 cup capacity

*easy to clean

*no glass carafe as I don’t like the burnt taste after 1 hour of sitting on the warmer

*and it had to brew a cup that was HOT - not warm, HOT

I found this in the Hamilton Beach BrewStation 47454.

All of our travel mugs fit comfortably under the single cup dispenser. The height of the coffeemaker fits well under the kitchen counter. 12 cup capacity, and it brews HOT. The shut off mechanism is a 4 hour timer and having tested it, I was happy to find no burnt taste even over 3 hours after brewing finished.

For those who have complained about the clock in the other models, this particular model has a lit up clock function that although is blue, is still easy to read in low light and the dark.
