I got the Hamilton Beach Brewstation Deluxe about 4 months ago.

Having no carafe was definitely the best thing about it, it looked great on the counter and was very convenient for everyone in the house to fill their cups and travel mugs.

For 4 months it faithfully brewed coffee every morning and kept it at a good temperature (for me - those who like their coffee scalding will find it not hot enough).

The built-in coffee filter was easy to clean and did a good job of keeping grounds out of the coffee. I never used the water filter as the tap water in my city is of very high quality.

Two days ago I woke up to coffee all over the counter and floor. The big problem with this kind of coffee maker is that if the valve leaks, rather than a slow drip when you remove the pot, you get the whole pot’s worth on the floor as it’s brewing. The little plastic part that holds the valve in had snapped resulting in total failure.

I took it back under warranty and London Drugs was kind enough to let me exchange for a similar-priced model with a carafe.

This machine was neat but to me, it’s not worth the risk of massive coffee spills in the morning.
