When I buy a coffee pot, I want certain features. Beyond that, I’m not a coffee snob. As long as I get a decent tasting cup of hot coffee in the morning, I’m happy. So, I look for a reasonably priced coffee pot, that includes the features I’ve learned I need. This pot meets my needs perfectly, and I’ve been very happy with its performance.

The Features

This pot has a timer, that you can set to come on at any time, so you can wake up to the aroma of fresh-brewed coffee, and have a cup as soon as you crawl out of bed and stumble to the kitchen. That alone is worth the price of any coffee pot for me.

Keep warm. I used to continually forget to turn off the pot, so it would stay on all day, and either boil down to nothing, or ruin the coffee that was left, by keeping it too hot. This pot has a keep warm feature. After it brews, the hot plate automatically stays on for two hours, then shuts off by itself. You can turn it off manually, if you don’t want it on that long.

No drip. Ok, you forgot to set the timer so you’d have hot coffee in the morning, and now, you can’t wait for a cup. With this feature, you don’t have to. When you lift the pot away to pour a cup, the coffee stops perking, until you put the pot back. This is a handy feature, but I’ve noticed that sometimes this machine drips anyway, and makes somewhat of a mess.

Everything Else

I like that this machine is black. It matches my other kitchen appliances, and it doesn’t show that "coffee stain" color that white does, no matter what you do. It’s very easy to clean, just wipe with a damp cloth. The pot and filter holder can go in the dishwasher.

This machine uses the "cone" type Melita filter. I’ve never had a machine that used those before. I’m not sure I like them as well as the traditional "flat-bottomed" filter that I’m used to. The cone doesn’t seem to quite fit in the holder, and sometimes it sticks up and gets caught when you are closing it. I think the cone filters are a little more expensive than the others, too. I didn’t know that this machine used cone filters. The next time I buy a coffee pot, I think I’ll look for one that doesn’t.

It can make from 2 up to 12 cups, another feature I like, as a lot of the machines I looked at only made 10, and I like the larger pot size.

This is a nice, everyday coffee pot. It makes good coffee, is relatively easy to use and program, (the timer), and takes up less space on my counter than previous models I’ve owned. Personally, I can’t ask for more than that in a coffee maker. I’m happy with this model, and won’t change until it breaks. We’ve had it about 2 years now, and it shows no signs of wear and tear, or giving up, so I think it will be awhile until I need to worry about replacing it! I’d recommend this coffee pot to anyone looking for a reasonably priced model with decent features.
