I love lattes, thanks to a trip to Seattle a few years back. A friend of mine told me to go to Starbucks and have a cafe latte. I had no idea what she was talking about, but I happened to see a Starbucks as we were driving past, remembered, and in we went.

After that, I was hooked. I went out and bought an espresso maker, and was quite happy with it for a long time until we moved and I lost one of the parts. Replacing the part was prohibitive, so the machine was moved to a storage area.

I asked for a new espresso machine last year and received one as a gift. What fun! This Delonghi model is a great one. Very easy to use, and makes delicious espresso. A great way to wake up on a Sunday morning!

The only real problem I have noticed with this machine is that it didn’t come with a container to catch the espresso as it brews. My old espresso maker had a tiny carafe, but this one had nothing and the carafe from the old one won’t fit. Since I do not have any real "espresso" cups, we have to make do as it is brewing and it makes the process more frustrating than it needs to be. (Guess I need to put espresso cups on my Christmas list!)

Another nice aspect of this particular machine is easy cleanup. The parts are easily removed, and the steamer (which can get really messy really fast) is located in a good spot to make it accessible to cleaning. Cleanup is an important thing with espresso, as a dirty machine will not function correctly.

Since I received this as a gift I do not know the exact cost, but I believe it is one of the more affordable espresso makers on the market. Delonghi is an excellent brand, and I do not think you will be disappointed in this machine.

This machine also works as a cappuccino maker, which is a nice feature. The manual that comes with it contains detailed instructions on how to make good espresso and good cappuccino, so there is no guess work involved.

Another benefit to purchasing this brand of espresso maker is the warranty. The machine comes with a full one year warranty, which is pretty good for a small appliance. I have not had any problems at all with this machine and have had it for almost a year. Delonghi makes quality products, something I really appreciate in this day when all too often one buys something only to find out it is defective from the start. It still works as good today as it did the first time I used it, and I fully expect it to last for a long, long time.

If you or someone you know is expressing interest in an espresso or cappuccino maker, consider purchasing this machine for them. It is easy to use, easy to clean up, and makes fantastic coffee. What more could a person ask for? Maybe not quite Starbucks, but pretty good all the same!
