We had a Krupps 12 cup maker that quit working after only a year and a half in service. I understand that is a decent amount of time to have a coffee pot. However, when you pay $100 for a coffee pot, you expect it to last a while. My parents had a coffee maker for most of my childhood………I am sure they didn’t pay a c note for it.

Back to the Cuisinart. My husband picked up the 14 cup maker because of the features it had. One thing that we noticed when he was thumbing through the manual, it states that a cup of coffee is 5 oz. Another Cuisinart coffee maker had a cup of coffee at 6 oz. Doing basic math will tell you that this coffee maker is actually a little less than a 12 cup coffee maker. Not the actual 14 that is stated.

It works well, it keeps your coffee hot for about 2 hours after it shuts off. No major spills when pouring the carafe, it has a coffee ready tone and a shutting off tone.

We loved the maker and would still be singing its praises,. ……..until we had to deal with Cuisinart’s customer service. Our glass carafe had an accident. We thought it would be no problem replacing it, no one carries replacements, and you have to order direct from Cuisinart. My husband ordered a replacement ($28 for the carafe and $5 for the lid) and wanted it over-nighted to our home (I don’t do well without coffee). That was over 6 weeks ago. When we ordered the replacement, they didn’t bother to send a courtesy email letting us know it would be on back order. Every time my husband calls, we are given a new date that it will be coming, another week past the previous date we were given. This coffee is over $100 and we have only had it for a couple months. In my opinion, it is money down the drain. I had considered looking into buying other Cuisinart appliances, but I think I will pass. I want to be taken care of when I spend my hard earned money somewhere.
