Our hapless boss decided that this machine’s low price fit his cheapskate requirement and purchased it for our office. It has turned out to be not worth the savings.

Design

Triumph of awkwardness and poor design over usefulness. In order to pour water from the carafe into the reservoir you must twist your wrist into an contorted, wrist-risking position. Bad designer, bad! No award for you.

Fit and finish

Poor. Leads one to believe that the machine’s design was farmed out to a Chinese manufacturer who didn’t have the primary concern for quality.

In operation, the unit spits coffee everywhere. The anti-flow valve sticks occasionally leaving the brewing pot full of hot water and grounds. If it valve sticks, you must play around with the level, risking burns and a bad day at the office.

The lid on top that covers both the reservoir and brewing pot doesn’t fit right, making it look like the unit is not assembled correctly.

The warming plate is set at too high of a temperature. The plate burns the coffee rather quickly. Only with half of the carafe still full you risk having a nasty brew after minutes.

Cleaning

The unit’s only saving grace. The brew pot is a two part unit that consists of a filter and a filter holder. The filter holder can be removed for cleaning as easily as the filter. The non-stick warming plate cleans easily, which is welcome since you will be cleaning it often.

Cheap

Yes, but in my humble opinion, it is not worth the trouble of dealing with this machine to save a few bucks.
